Metadynea Austria has always paid great attention to energy-efficient and sustainable production. In 2017, this commitment was underpinned by the fact that active research on formaldehyde-free and renewable raw material-based binders for the wood-based panel industry was included in the strategic development of the company.
For this purpose, a separate research group has been set up, which is fully dedicated to this topic. Lignin, cellulose and proteins are biopolymers whose suitability for use in binder formulations is the focus of investigation. This development is supported by decades of experience in the development of binders for the wood-based panel industry.
A first formulation resulting from this development is currently being tested in the field of plywood class 1 bonding (birch, beech).
